The way your morning goes can have a huge impact on the rest of your day. Start off on the right foot with these tips to hack your a.m. routine.

Starts with your alarm

Whether you use your phone or an old fashion alarm clock, waking up on time begins with what wakes you up. If you are using your phone, make sure the volume is set and double check that your alarm is set on the right time and for the a.m. It may be helpful to put your alarm on the other side of your room. Doing this will not only make it harder to snooze in your sleep but will force you to get up anyway, and once you’re up, it’s easier to stay up.

Your alarm doesn’t have to be the obnoxious noises everyone knows and hates. It could be a song that makes you smile, animal noises like birds chirping, or you could try an alarm that wakes you up with light.

Shower

Yes, this is an obvious one, but it’s important to mention. Taking a morning shower will wake you up, but also get you ready for the day. Feeling clean and fresh will make you more excited to take on what your day has in store for you and boost your confidence. When you look your best and feel your best, you’ll be more inclined to start your day and share it with the world.

Have a plan for the day

To make your morning successful, there are a few things you should take care of the night before. Think about the day you’re going to have. Where are you going and who are you seeing? What will you need to make the day successful?

Pick out and lay out the outfit you plan to wear. Maybe even try it on to avoid having to find something else in the morning. Prepare your bag, whether it’s putting your school supplies in your backpack or charging your laptop for the next day, and have things ready to go. If there are vitamins or medicines you need to take, have them ready.

Give yourself time to wake up

An important part of ensuring you have a successful day is having a successful morning, which means not a rushed one. Whether you’re a morning person or not, try to fit in 10-15 minutes of relaxing time to really wake up before you start your day. Put on a happy song, catch some morning news, drink some coffee, and enjoy a good breakfast. Take this time to focus on the day ahead and get rid of the grumpiness an early morning might bring with it.
